    University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Summer Electronic Materials Program Successfully Completed

    The College continues to promote cooperation with overseas first-class universities to carry out diversified overseas exchange programs. Overseas travel has been suspended this year due to a global outbreak. In order to enable undergraduates to continue to experience all-English courses overseas and develop an international academic horizon, the College has collaborated with the University of Illinois-Urban-Champaign to offer customized summer online courses Electronic Materials for Computing and Energy Application for our institution.

     

    From August 14 to September 26, 2020, the Materials Institute, in cooperation with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will launch the 2020 Electronic Materials Summer Online Exchange Program. Through a combination of lectures, panel discussions, subject reading and academic guidance, the exchange of practice and research in the field of electronic materials from the world's top universities was shared, and a total of 76 undergraduates from the Institute of Materials participated in the program, which received a warm response.

     

    Introduction to co-ed institutions:

     

    Founded in 1867, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is a world-renowned public research university. The school is a founding member of the Big Ten Alliance and a member of the American Association of Universities (AAU), known as the Public Ivy League. Comprehensive US NEWS ranks 46th in the world in 2020 and 15th in Materials QS. The Department of Materials at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign dates to its inception and is one of the largest in the United States, with more than 600 undergraduate and graduate students.

     

    Rich and diverse form:

     

    The e-materials summer program, which attracted 76 students to volunteer, covered literature reading, mini-seminars, course lectures, academic guidance, employment guidance, etc., in a variety of forms and contents, and was taught full-time by full-time professors from the Department of Materials of the University of Iraq. Students can feel the curriculum and academic atmosphere of American colleges and universities at home.

    This summer program is divided into reading week and lecture week two stages, the first stage is led by the doctoral students of the University of Iraq teaching assistants to carry out material reading and lectures and answer questions. The second stage is a course on electronic materials, taught by Professor Qing Cao of the University of Iraq, in which students complete and present the project in groups. Students have said that the project is full of dry goods, the harvest is quite rich.

     

    The lecture inspired people:

     

      The summer program has arranged five after-school lectures on engineering research, introduction of graduate applications, writing graduate admission statements, alumni exchanges at the University of Iraq, and how to become a successful graduate student in materials. Through these five lectures, students have a clearer understanding and thinking about future academic career choices and life planning.
