Report Meeting by Prof. Xia Ke of South University of Science and Technology

    Editor: Date:2019-04-04 Hits:16

On April 1st, 2019, Professor Xia Ke was invited by Academician Yang Deren to hold a lecture on the theme of Spinal Realization of Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) & Gravity Spintronics. At the meeting, Professor Xia Ke introduced the theoretical realization of RNN with magnetic tunnel junction (used as the basic unit of spin transfer torque magnetic random access memory). Through the implementation of micro magnetic simulation, it is proved that the RNN composed of as few as 40 MTJs can generate and recognize sequential signals after an effective training process. By increasing the number of MTJ, the network capability can be significantly improved. In addition, Professor Xia Ke proposed a system to drive magnetization by introducing an additional phase control field, and proposed that monochromatic microwave radiation can be generated by thermal induction in magnon polaron.

Before the end of the conference, Academician Yang Deren presented Professor Xia Ke with a memorial to the guest speaker of Qiushi Material Science Forum, and took a group photo with Professor Xia Ke.

    Brief introduction of the reporter

Ke Xia received his PhD in Physics at Nanjing University in 1997. He then joined the University of Twente and the Technical University of Delft as a postdoctoral researcher focusing on the ab initio calculation of magnetoelectronics. In 2002, he joined the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences under the 100 Talents Program granted by the CAS. He received the NSFC  for Distinguished Young Scholars granted by the NSFC in 2008. He became a Professor of physics at Beijing Normal University. Since 2018, he has been a Professor of Physics at SUSTech at Sehzhen.
