From December 1st to 6th, 2023, Professor David J. Wales, Fellow of the Royal Society and Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge, UK, was a guest at the 143rd exchange activity of Zhejiang University Overseas Famous Teachers Lecture Hall.
Professor David J. Wales received his PhD from the University of Cambridge in 1988, was awarded the Royal Society of Chemistry's Meldora Award in 1992, became a Visiting Professor at Harvard University in 1999, has been the head of the Theory Group of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge since 2017, and has been the International Chair of the Coted Azur Institute for Artificial Intelligence since 2020. Professor Wales is dedicated to the development of energy landscape theory and has successfully applied it to a number of fields, including chemistry, biology, spectroscopy, clusters, glass, solids, surfaces and machine learning.
On the afternoon of December 4th, the 143rd lecture by Academician David J. Wales of Zhejiang University Overseas Famous Teachers Lecture Hall was held in Building 10 of Zijingang Campus and Tongyuan. More than 80 teachers and students from famous universities and abroad enthusiastically participated in the wonderful journey of energy landscape.
