    A Delegation Led by Dean Zhu Tiejun Went to Beijing for Exchanges with Top Universities

    For in-depth study of the advanced experiences of top domestic materials science departments in discipline construction, talent cultivation and recruitment, teaching reform, scientific research innovation, and international education, and to promote high-quality connotative development of the school, a delegation led by Professor Zhu Tiejun, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering (hereinafter referred to as MSE) at Zhejiang University, visited Tsinghua University, Peking University, and the University of Science and Technology Beijing in April.The delegation included Vice Deans Yu Xuegong and Wu Haobin, Deputy Party Secretary Wang Yuping, and heads of relevant administrative offices.

    The delegation held in-depth discussions with its counterparts on discipline development planning, talent cultivation systems, scientific research innovation and platform construction, teaching incentive mechanisms, student management services, etc. The delegation presented the school’s development accomplishments and strategic plan, expressed the hope to further enhance mutual learning in various areas.Also, practical experiences in faculty assessment, research management, industry-academia integration, AI-empowered materials research, industry-education integration innovation, technology transfers, international development and pathways for AI technology to empower research innovation were shared on the meetings.




    The meetings are closely aligned with the MSE’s development needs and reached important consensus in abovementioned areas. As the next step, MSE will carefully review and summarize the findings from the research, effectively translate the learning outcomes into concrete measures for development and further optimize its “15th Five-Year Plan”. At the same time, MSE will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with top domestic universities.
