报告提要:
Highlights on electrode development for tubular SOFC are presented as part of author’s work at NanoDynamics, the electrode engineering and architecture is of paramount importance to minimize electrode activation and concentration polarization, thus enhancing cell performance. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) under dc bias to mimic cell operation condition is extensively employed to validate electrode improvement concept.
For anode, optimization of both porosity and geometry for anode-supported tubular cells contributes to measurable drop in anode polarization. For cathode, use of ionic phase with greater ionic conductivity in LSM-based composite cathode coupled with implementation of powder processing technique developed by author is shown to boost power generating capacity by 20%, this is largely attributed to suppression of cathode activation polarization by reducing effective charge transfer resistance.
