报告题目:Bottom-Up Approaches for the Structuring of Silicon-Based Materials
报告时间:2009.10.16 下午14:30~16:00
报告地点:华家池校区纳米院四楼会议室
报告摘要:
Nonmaterials with sought-after properties are presently in great demand with increasing interest and desire for application. In this field of research, extensive works, mainly based on organosilicon chemistry, have been devoted to the development of new organic-inorganic materials. This presentation will focus on the synthesis and on the characterisation of structured silicon-based materials: sol-gel hybrids and silicon carbide.
1 – Sol-Gel hybrids: Sol-gel process provides an efficient method for preparing hybrid materials with combined organic and inorganic properties which may be exploited in several areas of applications. In this context, bridged silsesquioxanes have developed as a fascinating bottom-up approach for the synthesis of functional hybrid materials with targeted properties. In the past years, increasing efforts have been dedicated to the structuring of these hybrid materials and several shape-controlled bulk hybrid materials (lamellar, tubular and helical) have recently been reported using controlled self-assembly of bis-silylated organic fragments through the H-bonds of incorporated urea groups. We also recently reported a new route to synthesize bridged silsesquioxanes starting from two different organosilyl compounds derived from nucleic bases, e.g. adenine and thymine. The structuring of these materials is obtained thanks to the molecular recognition interactions combined with other weak interactions.
2 – Silicon Carbide (Si-C): Si-C possesses remarkable mechanical and thermal properties and is usually obtained as a dense material. New strategies for obtaining porous Si-C are being developed and templating systems are commonly employed to achieve their structuring. An example using commercial silica spheres will be discussed.
