报告摘要:

In this talk, he will present some recent progress on synthesis of shape/size-controlled rare-earth metal oxide nanocrystals and understanding atomic-level redox behavior of cerium-based oxide nanoparticles using environmental transmission electron microscopy and high resolution transmission electron microscopy.

报告人简介:

Dr. Ruigang Wang received a PhD with Prof. Peter A. Crozier in Materials Science and Engineering from Arizona State University in 2007. His thesis work was on in situ environmental transmission electron microscopy study on atomic-level redox processes in rare earth oxides catalyst nanoparticles. He then did a postdoc with Prof. Lutgard C. DeJonghe at Materials Sciences Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, working on intermediate-temperature fuel cell and Li-ion battery materials. He joined Youngstown State University in the fall of 2010 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Materials Science and Engineering Program. Dr. Wang’s research focuses on the synthesis and structure-property relationship study of catalytic nanomaterials and energy conversion/storage materials (fuel cell and battery etc.). He has extensive experience in applying advanced transmission electron microscopy techniques to atomic-level structural and chemical characterization of hard materials. After joining YSU, he has been awarded several research grants from Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, Department of Transportation, and American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund etc. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed journal papers, including these in Nano Letters, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Physical Review Letters, Journal of Materials Chemistry, Journal of Physical Chemistry B/C, and Solid State Ionics etc.
